What support settings give the cleanest, easiest-to-remove results in FDM 3D printing?

Two settings make the biggest difference: **Support Type** and **Top Z Distance**.

Set your support type to **Tree (Auto)**. Tree supports touch your model at minimal points, making them far easier to remove with less surface scarring than traditional supports.

For **Top Z Distance**, use your layer height plus 0.02mm:
- 0.2mm layer height → **0.22mm Top Z Distance**
- 0.15mm layer height → 0.17mm, and so on

This tiny air gap prevents supports from fusing to your print while still holding overhangs steady — supports peel off cleanly every time.
